The world premiere of. Frankenstein means something different to everyone involved. To the makeup and sound designers it means the opening of the full creative spectrum.

Working with a concept of religious symbolism and the inspiration of his inner ideas of dark feelings, makeup designer Johnny Tyson took on the project of "Frankenstein" . to create a makeup design which would compliment the religious theme which runs through out the production ..

Sighting the creature as his biggest challenge, Tyson worked with the stipulations of .director Gary Krinke to produce a living monster. Keeping with the religious motif, Tyson used the idea of a bloody crucifix as inspiration for the wounds on the creatures chest. .

Using gothic art and movies for inspiration, sound designers Simran Mangat and Edward Garcia have .used portions of movie sound tracks and a large section of Glen Danzig's Black Aria to help create the mood of the show.

Mela Hoyt-Heydon, costume designer, set out to recreate the 1870s and early 1880s to match her vision with Krinke's. She combined a realm of romance and terror to create particular aura.

One main theme the costumes carry with them through colors, fabrics and design is the distinction of classes during this time period.

The character of the creature is engulfed in a certain ambiance. His world is symbolized through his costume by the use of the color gray and a merging together of clothing" to create nothing distinct.

"He is looking for his soul, he wants what Victor. Frankenstein and Elizabeth have," Hoyt-Heydon said. ยท

The Creature's coat is one of the many costume pieces the department rented from Sony Pictures. Pieces rented. including the coat, were used in the Hollywood productions of Mary Shelley's "Frankenstein" and Francis Ford Copolla's "Dracula."

Due to time and budget constraints, more costumes than usual were rented for this production.

Costume pieces used in the picnic and wedding scenes are lighter and used to break up the darkness before.a long period. of deaths. The wedding dress which was built by the costume design classes at FC, lends itself to romance and femininity.

The innocence and pureness the dress symbolizes makes the death to follow seem worse.
