'Scenes' Preperation

Fullerton College Hornet  - Heather Fuller - Wednesday, April 28th, 1999
Written by playwright Howard Barker, "Scenes from an Execution" opens Thursday, May 6 in the Bronwyn Dodson Theatre.

Actors scramble around the room, perfecting their lines and moves as Director Gary Krinke, instructs them that the scene that is concerning him, the one they are practicing needs to be cut down in time.

The actors, along with Krinke, stage managers and all others involved with the Theatre Arts Department's version of "Scenes from an Execution," are-less than two weeks away' from opening night.

The play, starring Sarah Dunkerly as Galactia and Brian Fowler as Carpenta, is a post modernistic comedy by Howard Barker and directed by Fullerton College's own Gary Krinke.

"This is such an interesting, politically-charged play," says Krinke. "The playwright uses humor as well as heated argument to discuss such things as the woman as artist, pacifism, feminism, freedom of artistic expression and the relationship between the artist and government."
