Welcome to the Cabaret

The Kit Kat Klub was a glittering heartless, seedy world set against a rising undercurrent of decadence, vulgarity and forced pleasure with bash showgirls.

The ominous Emcee who leads the Kit Kat Klub is a smirking master who is the embodiment of a morally and economically spent society ripe for Hitler.

As the outside world heads towards tragedy, the infamous Emcee beckons everyone to "Come to the Cabaret." Come and hide from the harsh realities of life by immersing themselves in the indulgences of the Kub.

"Cabaret" is a story about a second rate singer, Sally Bowles, who clings to her dreams of stardom by performing at the Kit Kat Klub.

The place is Berlin and the time is 1929 when Hitler could be shrugged off as a passing noise.

"Given what's happened in our world today, I think 'Cabaret' has become an even more important theatrical event," says Gary Krinke, director of Fullerton College's performance of "Cabaret."

"I see this group as a ragged, hard-faced bunch dancing on the edge of an abyss. This defines the spirit of the show," Krinke continued.

Come to Cabaret and let FC's Theatre Department entertain you and let their production haunt you later.

"We should all be caught.in the undercurrent and tension the day before the roof fell in through the songs and the politics in a garish night club at the critical time when Hitler was waiting in the wings," said Krinke.

"Cabaret" has won numerous awards for its Broadway performances and is still playing in New York today.

Join the fun starting March 13, for one of those dreams, which you feel you can wake yourself at any time, but some how never do.
