"You won't see a guy without his hat," said Alex Makardish, of the classy prohibition-era musical that Fullerton College's theatre department hosts starting tomorrow.

Makardish, 18, has participated in the suimmer program, 'Standing Room Only' for.the past three years and although this is his second semester a FC, he will be playing the male lead of Sky Masterson in the campus rendition of the play, "Guys and Dolls."

Makardish describes the character of Sky Masterson as a stud. A macho-tough guy who is ranked highest in the gambling hierarchy, but Sky gets taken down a few notches after he meets the formidable Salvation Army missionary,Miss Sarah Brown.

Immersed in drama since the Third grade, Makardish mentioned going through a sports phase for a brief period lasting until sophomore year, when he traded iiinhis Nike swooshed sneakers and Gatorade . for pancake stage-makeup and tea with honey. He now takes the stage in a broadway classic.

"'Its one of those shows that will get your spirits high. It will make people walk out the auditorium door smiling," Makardish said.

When asked if he tried to model himself after Marlon Brando's performance of Sky from the 1955 film version of Guys and Dolls, Makardish laughed and said, "I can't really take from Marlon.Maybe the way he talks and pronounces things...but I'll let [the audience] be the judge of whether ' its Brando or not."
