Steve has been teaching for the North Orange County Community College District since 1982. He has taught courses in Introduction to Theatre, Introduction to Theatre Appreciation, Theatrical Lighting, Stage Crew Activity, and Theater Management for both Cypress and Fullerton Colleges. In addition to his teaching assignments, Mr. Pliska is the Production Manager as well as the Resident Lighting Designer for the Theatre Arts Program at Fullerton College. As a freelance lighting designer, Mr. Pliska has designed and assisted on many productions in and around Los Angeles/Orange County theaters. Most recently, Mr. Pliska served as the Lighting designer for the Downey Civic Light Opera Production of Phantom. Mr. Pliska has designed and assisted on productions for the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, Pasadena Playhouse, Curtis Theater, La Mirada Theater for the Performing Arts, Orange County Performing Arts Center, Fox Theatre in St. Louis, MI, Civic Auditorium in Knoxville, TN, Fox Theatre in Atlanta, GA, and the Mark Taper Forum. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts from UCLA as well as his Masters in Fine Arts in Lighting Design and Theatre Technology.
