Addison Glines (Center) with Professors Dan Lemieux and Patricia Scarborough

Addison Glines is coping with cancer. Instead of letting it get the best of him, he decided to do some thing about his specific situation. He has always had a strong interest in theatre and the arts. so he decided to spread his love of the arts to those less fortunate.

In -doing so, he created the A.D.D.Y ... G. Foundation (Addison's Day Dreaming Yields ... Generosity). This foundation has been set up to help pediatric patients and their families pursue their dreams in theatre and the arts.

"No One is Alone: A Cabaret" was the inaugural event for the A.D.D.Y ... G. Foundation, and played from Sept. 14 - 16 at the Bronwyn Dodson Theatre. Emceed by Dan Lemieux and Patricia .Scarborough, this event was filled with both humor and sadness as alumni, students, and faculty performed a series of songs, monologues, and poetry readings.

As with the tide of the cabaret, the first piece of the night was a rendtion of "No One is Alone," from Stephen Sondheim's "Into the Woods."

Several songs from Jonathon Larson's award winning ,Broadway musical 'RENT' were performed, including "I'll Cover You," arid "What You Own". Other great renditions of songs included 'No More," from ''Into the Woods" and "Come What May" the hit song from the new movie "Moulin Rouge".

There were several_ great readings as well, including the classic piece, "Birches" by Robert Frost. Possibly the best piece all night was Rafael Agustin's interpretation of "Man on the verge of a Hispanic breakdown," which is about a gay Hispanic immigrant trying to cope with life in LA. The piece included humorous misconceptions about the L.A. race riots of 1992 and, the Northridge earthquake of 1994.

Addison made a special appearance near the shows end, by telling the audience his dreams for the future and the overall positive effects the foundation has already seen...The event ended with Addison joining the entire company singing "Seasons of Love" from "RENT."

Overall, this was a great charity event filled with entertainment and a large cast of 27 performers; It is obvious by the apparent success of this benefit, that Addison's A.D.D.Y ... G. Foundation will be successful. The Foundation will help give people who do not necessarily have the opportunity of the arts a chance to enjoy them as much as Addison does.
