About the event

Caesar has returned in triumph from the war against Pompey. Cassius and Brutus fear Caesar’s ambition is to become king, and plot to have him killed. When Caesar is killed Brutus justifies their action to the citizens and receives their support; but Antony’s speech rouses them against the conspirators, and Brutus and Cassius flee. Antony forms a triumvirate with Octavius Caesar and Lepidus, and they plan the deaths of the conspirators, and form an army. Brutus and Cassius join forces to fight but misinformation and defeat in battle lead to their death and the success of Antony and Octavius.
