Lights, camera, action! Move aside fellow students, Broadway is moving into the Fullerton College Campus Theater. The theater department at FC has appointed, member of the Screen Actors' Guild (SAG) and American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, Amberly Chamberlain to direct the Broadway hit "Guys and Dolls."

Based on the book "The Idyll of Miss Sarah Brown," the renowned musical takes place in the late 1940s in New York City.

The gambling, romance and drama occur shortly after the red curtains rise.

As the story begins, Adelaide's desperate measures to persuade her fourteen-year fianc6, Nathan Detroit, to tie the knot and Sky Masterson's $1,000 bet to take Sarah Brown out to dinner in Havana, Cuba fills the theatre with laughter and admiration.

"I sang complete songs before I spoke complete sentences," Chamberlain said.

At the age of eight, Chamberlain gained her first role as Molly in the musical theatrical "Annie." She is well-known for her role in "Into the Woods," where she snagged the lead role of the witch. "I actually auditioned against Eden Espinosa, from 'Wicked,' for the role of the witch and I got it. It's funny how I'm here and she's on Broadway," Chamberlain said.

Walking by the theatre, one cannot ignore the sound of tap shoes thumping upon a wooden floor or the strong echoes of singing that resonate from the walls. The "Hot Box Girls," along with Heather Lozano (Adelaide) perform numerous dance numbers that require energy and charisma.

Castelleano had the crew excel in every one of their dance routines during an eighthour dance rehearsal session.

"When people think of acting or any art form, they think it is having fun all day. It takes a lot of outside time," Lozano said.

The cast can be found singing, dancing and acting four days a week, untill 11 pm.

With everybody involved working tirelessly to make the production a success, they have not lost their passion for performing.

"Theater has been the escape from all the crap going on. This play could not have come at a more perfect time," Chamberlain said.

Guys and Dolls will be premiere March 5 and run until March 12.
