The Theatre Arts Associate in Arts Degree is designed to equip students with basic theatrical knowledge and academic skills that prepare them for either transfer to a four-year academic institution or employment in theatre production, television, film, theme parks, education, and/or management. Career opportunities include acting, design (costume, lighting, makeup, scenic, sound), directing, education, playwriting, stage management, and technicians (lighting, sound, stagehand, and wardrobe). This degree requires a total of 21.5-32 units, in addition to other graduation requirements.

Student Learning Outcomes

Outcome 1: Analyze, interpret and evaluate dramatic literature and theatrical productions for the purpose of creating culturally responsive storytelling through the dramatic arts.

Outcome 2: Coordinate and implement collaboration, critical thinking, creativity, and organizational skills through the theatrical process to establish leadership, artistry, ensemble, and confidence.

Outcome 3: Create and contribute artistically to the areas of performance, technical theatre, and production to gain experience and portfolio material.

Outcome 4: Determine, evaluate, and articulate personal and career goals in preparation for further professional/academic training.
